About Me

My name is Laurie James—and I am working toward earning my Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction at Seattle Pacific University. I earned both of my undergraduate degrees in Psychology and Special Education through Seattle Pacific and since then have been a full-time special education teacher in the same school district–for over thirty years.

More importantly, I am the youngest of nine children, as well as a wife, mother, and most recently—a grandmother. Strong family ties are vital to me and I am grateful for a rich heritage and the positive influence of each family member in the ongoing shaping of my life.  My husband and I have three children and three grandchildren and we thoroughly enjoy spending time interacting with them as well as researching our family history.

Two years ago,  on April 1st, 2011, I wrote: “My long-awaited opportunity to embark on the acquisition of a master’s degree promises to be invigorating and inspiring. I look forward to learning as much as possible!”

And now, on April 3rd, 2013, as I approach the “finish line” with plans to graduate in June,  I feel a great sense of victory and gratefulness to God for seeing me through and allowing me to learn so much.
